Maghan Baptiste is a Haitian-American reader, writer and Cancer stellium. In 2019, she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College where she studied the craft of writing, Black literature and social psychology. Her personal work explores control, intergenerational trauma and ancestral vows. Maghan recently participated in Catapult’s first year-long Poetry Generator led by Angel Nafis and is working on a poetry manuscript which attempts to connect the subconscious to the paper while exploring the realities of grief, mental illness, and arriving at the self. Maghan is the festival coordinator for the annual Well-Read Black Girl festival and now works as the Editorial Assistant at Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism.
