Curatorial Department Internship at Fitchburg Art Museum

Description:

Curatorial internships at the Fitchburg Art Museum (FAM) are designed to give curious future curators a substantive, immersive educational experience in a fast-paced regional art museum.

The spring/summer 2020 FAM Curatorial Internship is open to students currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in museum studies or art history. Interns will be exposed to both historical and contemporary works of art, and may engage in a variety of tasks including research, curatorial planning, writing, studio/museum/gallery visits, and other administrative work, including assisting with preparation and implementation of FAM’s Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft.

The curatorial intern will report to Curator Lisa Crossman, Ph.D. Interns will enjoy an immensely collegial, supportive, collaborative, and creative work culture with other members of the FAM team, including Terrana Curatorial Fellow Marjorie Rawle.

Qualifications:

Ideally, the candidate would begin in February and commit to one or two days a week at FAM until the end of May and then increase the number of days as we prepare for the Regional Exhibition that opens on June 26, 2020. However, the start and end dates are flexible and will be determined in consultation with the selected candidate. Please note that while public transportation to FAM is available, it is limited. Therefore, we request that interns have a car.

How To Apply:

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV or resume, and names and contact information for 2 references by email to Curator Lisa Crossman (lcrossman@fitchburgartmuseum.org, ATTN: Curatorial Internship) by February 1, 2020.
