Gallery- 1991 Strike

Union contracts are typically negotiated on a two year cycle. Thus, after winning recognition in spring 1990, another strike took place in Fall 1991 as a part of contract negotiations. This demonstrates the high level of militancy amongst early GEO members, fresh off winning a multi-year recognition battle. Two main demands emerged in November of 1991: agency fees and health care. Both of these are relatively complicated parts of the contract, so the union came up with some very helpful materials to explain the issues at play. A newspaper clip provided in these papers gives us an actual look at GEO members. This images was used on the front page of the website.
