#COLA4ALL at UCSC

The UCSC fight began at the start of the fall semester, as graduate students rallied for #COLA4ALL, or a cost of living adjustment. This would increase the stipends of graduate students to be equivalent to the skyrocketing cost of rent in Silicon Valley. These workers have undertaken a series of actions, including walk outs, rallies, and marches. That winter, TAs engaged in a wildcat, or unauthorized strike, where they refused to hand in grades for that semester. The university then fired 88 graduate workers. The movement continued to spread during the spring as other UC system schools, represented by the same union and the same contract, began to join in.
