Ultimate Source(if different):

Creator: Frederick Keller (?)

Remarks: The ogre labeled monopoly with heads of Leland Stanford and Charles Crocker is, of course the Southern Pacific Railroad. It has hands labeled "subsidy" and "land grab." The great Mussel Slough controversy between the railroad and local farmers is the backdrop for Frank Norris, The Octopus. Modern writers are more pro-railroad. See Richard Orsi, Sunset Limited.
