Remarks: I call these cartoons "sneering at the hicks." That horse hair would turn into snakes is an old myth I remember from childhood. In fact hair snakes are a kind of worm that does sometimes show up in horse buckets. The spontaneous generation of the horsehair snake was once thought to be evidence against Darwin's ideas.
