Remarks: A take-off of the famous Punch cartoon "Dropping the Pilot." Harriman and Stuyvesant Fish had been long time friends and allies on the Illinois Central , but in late 1906 they came to blows. While the sources of the conflict were complex the press nearly all sided with Fish and pilloried Harriman. For an assessment see Maury Klein, The Life and Legend of E.H.
