Remarks: The Stanford and Crocker hogs, in the form of the Southern and Central Pacific, are gobbling up San Francisco's wheat exports by ship while the railroad commission scarecrow waves in the breeze. The worry here seems not to be that the railroads will hurt California's commerce but that they may divert the export trade from San Francisco.
