Michael Jacobson-Hardy has been building acoustic and electric guitars since 1976. Michael’s interest in physics, music and woodworking are joined together in his building of handmade guitars. He began using primarily hand tools and over the years he has designed and built many of the machines that help produce his handmade guitars.

Michael’s guitars are known for their unusual woods. He has used maple, rosewood, mahogany, cocobolo, koa, walnut, purple heart, vermillion, ebony, spruce and redwood. Each combination of woods produces a unique sound. All of Michael Jacobson-Hardy’s guitars are known to have an extraordinarily clear, sustaining and well-balanced tone. It has been this tone that has influenced many musicians to put down their mass-produced guitars and has inspired both professional and amateur musicians to reach higher levels of musical creativity.

Michael has built guitars for well-known musicians including Avery Sharpe, bassist for McCoy Tyner, Randy Armstrong, guitarist for DO’A, Preston Reed, Michael Gregory, and Brandon Ross, guitarist for Cassandra Wilson (click on their music). His guitars have appeared in Guitar Player Magazine, Downbeat Magazine, and have been featured on numerous album covers.
