Digital Media Literacy Program 2020

The DML program is an accelerated, two week, two-credit course that provides training in a broad range of media technologies including digital photography and imaging, digital video production, and motion graphics design. The course is sponsored by Learning and Design (ITS) and is open to all undergraduate Smith College students with twelve seats available. Assessment includes the completion of: daily exercises, production of a digital composite image, production of an edited video interview disseminated through an online sharing site, creation of a motion graphic title animation, and completion of a final simulated client/producer group exercise.

DML Course Prerequisites

The DML course is designed for the motivated student who wants to learn practical techniques for producing and presenting media, in an accelerated fashion. The course requires dedication and a willingness to devote time outside of class in order to make the experience count. Participants in the DML course must be familiar with Mac OS X user interface, toolbars, and dock.
